The Rambed House.

Architects Quim Larrea & Katherine Bedwell have designed the Rambed House near Barcelona. The peculiarity of the natural setting, the views of the valley and the functionality that the client demanded made us think of those Californian homes designed by Richard Neutra back in the 50’s. The house with a “V” shape plan had to be horizontal, tectonic, but at the same time friendly and respectful with the forest. It had to levitate on the site in order to simulate weightlessness.

Jean Paul Gauthier and Levi’s.

The bold reconstruction by the ever-youthful Jean Paul Gauthier was not without his signature touches, the chic maritime stripes and bondage accents adorned the cuffs of 501 jeans, and exposed selvage run through the side seams of jeans and shorts – in equally pure and uncompromisingly rigid denim. Epitomizing the America Dream since 1973, Levi’s itself is an effortlessly cool and edgy brand.  Fused with Gauthier’s genius sense of innovation, and impeccable couture craftsmanship, the streetwear collection is a refreshing mixture of chic masculinity with utter authenticity and edge. Physalia Concept.

février 15th, 2010 by mateo1981

whalegarden-ed01.jpgphysalia4-550x381.jpg

Vincent Callebaut visionary behind the Lilypad has created a whale-shaped floating garden designed to drift through the world’s rivers while purifying their waters. The Physalia is a self-sufficient ecosystem that generates all the power it needs from the sun and works to reduce water pollution. Physalia was inspired by the Physalia Physalis jellyfish, whose name translates roughly to “Water Bubble”. This water bubble is meant to navigate the major rivers of Europe, Northern Africa and the Middle East, traveling along the Danube and Volga, between the Rhine and Guadalquivir, and through the Euphrate and the Tiger. Completely self sufficient and incredible looking, the Physalias would turn heads wherever it floated.

Artist Damien Hirst has designed a cashmere blanket decorated with religious symbols. Created for Other Criteria a publishing company part-owned by Hirst, the blanket is made in Scotland using traditional techniques. Featuring icons from Damien Hirst’s New Religion series and large enough for a double bed, Other Criteria’s luxury blankets are 100% cashmere, made in Scotland on a Jacquard loom and finished by hand. Each has a purled fringe and 2 New Religion labels.
