Italy’s famed brands Fiat and Diesel combine forces to create the Fiat 500. Using the automative branding of Fiat and the high style fashions of Diesel, the two worked to create “an Urban Survival Vehicle – a car capable of easily moving through city traffic and at the same time express the personality of a young and original score.” We’re happy with the outcome. We like the smooth lines, minimal appeal and attention to detail.

Shoes designed not to be noticed.

“This was the basic idea behind the fall/winter ‘08 running campaign. We arrived at this because we hit on the truth that you really only notice your running shoes when they feel bad. But when they feel good, rather than notice them, you notice other things. Yes, you notice your surrounds, but you also notice you.You notice your breathing, your hard-working muscles, your mind that’s been allowed to wander. You notice you’re running further. You notice you’re actually enjoying running! You notice that all of a sudden achieving your impossible is in fact, anything but.”

Holidays??

Outside of Rio de Janeiro, on a beautiful little beach with amazing blue water, sits a little house with a flowering roof that shades and protects like a big tropical banana leaf. Designed by Mareines + Patalano, the open air abode is meant to encourage interaction and connection between man and nature. With verandas and open spaces in between rooms and no corridors, the tropical beach house is an ideal place for social gatherings and parties. The open layout also takes advantage of trade winds that blow in from the sea, providing natural ventilation and passive cooling.

The Inside Light is a collaboration between Cinco and Chris Hornbecker. They photographed creative people who had to define their personal inspiration in one word. Those words were transformed into big light boxes, then these were flashed so they would leave a reflection.

Unexpected buildings.

Belgian photographer Filip Dujardin makes images of unexpected buildings – that is, he “combines photographs of parts of buildings into new, fictional, architectonic structures,” Mark Magazine explains.
The resulting projects look like old factory sites in the American rust belt – Mark describes them as “informal and often dilapidated structures with unspecified functions” – or, in some cases, new projects by LOT-EK, Simon Ungers, or OMA.
